Description

Coated VICRYL™ Absorbable Suture, Violet Braided, S-14 Needle, Size 5/0, 18" is a sterile, synthetic surgical suture composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The suture is braided to enhance flexibility and handling, and coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to reduce tissue drag and improve knot security.

This suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures. It is not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. The suture provides excellent ease of knot tying and maintains secure knots even on the first throw, making it suitable for delicate and precise applications.

VICRYL™ maintains approximately 50% of its tensile strength at three weeks post-implantation, offering adequate support during the early phases of wound healing. Its predictable absorption profile allows the suture to gradually lose strength as tissue regains its integrity, reducing the need for suture removal.
